Wow, I don't know about the arthritis but what you mention there about the liquid and squeezing it out - well that's the puzzle in that book, Divine Mushroom of Immortality, where the author doesn't know of any method to do that but it is talked about in the Vedas as one of the ways to get Soma. Err, nice one, gonna go check up some more on this...
