If you're in the States then your chances of finding any fly agaric growing is getting slimmer as each day passes. I found a bunch of them about a week ago but cannot seem to find anymore. I'm in Georgia so I probably have a few more weeks but for most of the United States its going to be very hard to find Amanita Muscaria now.
So hopefully everyone had a good season, you might still have some growing around you depending on where you're at, so go look before its too late!

they finished here in the uk in the SE at the end of september...
ReplyDeleteThanks for that info. I wasn't too sure about the UK.
ReplyDeleteI found a nice little patch of them maybe a week ago myself but their potency was very low and it wasn't a very good experience compared to the ones I found earlier in the year.
I'm sure I could find more for a little while longer but for me it's not even worth it if their going to be like the ones I found recently.
It's pretty common for the ones found later in the year to have much more of just the narcotic effect and to be less potent than the ones found earlier.
Sadly they are now finished in the UK and it's back to that limp Eastern European rat's fur we have to buy on the net...I much prefer drying my own until they are crisp like chinese prawn crackers!
ReplyDeleteYeah they seem to be done here. I have a little place I like to call wonderland and all it is is just 50 or so pine trees all together... nothing is growing there anymore.
ReplyDeleteAnd you can get good ones online, just have to get it from the right site.
are amantita muscaria illegal in the UK now?
ReplyDeleteNot that I am aware of.
ReplyDeleteAnd I lied, we have had some very weird weather here lately and fly agarics are growing everywhereeee.
It started snowing here now.... amanita season is definitely over. ):
ReplyDeleteactually just found one today in anchorage!
ReplyDeleteim in lithuanian and amanitas muscaria growing there many
ReplyDeleteThe one most are familiar with is the old Red Cap mushroom; the one that is in everything from German Christmas decorations to Alice in Wonderland, to countless other paintings and images. Sometimes we feel that the Amanita is so deeply rooted in our different societies around the world, that most don’t notice them anymore, but I challenge you to find anyone who doesn’t know, if you show them a photo, what an Amanita mushroom is.
